L’IMPÉRATRICE DE LA NUIT - PER SPOOK
L’Impératrice de la Nuit reveal the intimacy : firstly that of a friendship between the couturier Per Spook and Madame Hélène Martini, the Empress of the Night; secondly that of the wardrobe of a woman for whom elegance was a rule; thirdly that of the personal diary of a widow at the head of an empire.
The haute couture outfits presented in this book were all imagined, designed and created fo Madame Martini by Per Spook between 1966 and 1994. The photographs were taken by the designer in Norway between 2019 and 2021 with a medium format film camera (Rolleiflex f3.5).
All texts are taken from Madame Martini’s personal notebook, L'Impératrice de la Nuit.

Author’s biography : "Per Spook is a Norwegian fashion designer who ran his own fashion house in Paris between 1977 and 1995. After studying at the Oslo School of Fine Arts, he arrived in Paris at the age of 20, where he worked as a freelance designer fo Christian Dior and Saint-Laurent, before being hired by Luis Féraud. Per Spook has received numerous awards including the Aiguille d’Or in 1978 and the Dés d’Or twice in 1980 and 1994. He was also awarded the Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 2003.”

SPECIAL edition #1
For this Special Edition, we have designed a box with a lithograph showing a drawing by Per Spook. These illustrations were originally used for the invitations to the 1986-87 autumn-winter fashion show. There are four different lithographs, randomly assigned to each box. On the outside, the box's canvas is printed with a design by Per Spook for one of his collections.
SPECIAL edition #2
For the Special Edition #1, the box is the same on the outside. Inside, there is a numbered book, two randomly added lithographs and an art print signed by Per Spook, and slipped into an envelope with the box design.
