CARENES, Acte II- EWAN LEBOURDAIS

Carènes, Acte II is the fifth photo book by Ewan Lebourdais. It is a 100% French book that invites you to travel through eight universes and more than a hundred photographs, in which the author, official Painter of the Navy testifies his love for these monuments.

The preface is signed by Jean-Louis Etienne, explorer, scientist and an important figure in the photographer’s childhood. Carènes, Acte II is a beautiful book printed in France by Escourbiac l’imprimeur, and published in 240 screen, which gives it an exceptional fineness of printing.
Photos are accompanied by Christophe Agnus’s texts.

Author’s biography : : "Ewan Lebourdais is a great lover of water sports and marine landscapes. His passion for photography grew up in the heart of this iodized universe. A lover of the maritime world in all its forms, he has immortalized in his viewfinder a wide range of images of the sea, from the mythical frigate Hermione to the acrobatic figures of Breton windsurfers, via the "mastodons" of the French Navy, such as the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and the nuclear submarines of the Ile Longue. Now recognised for his aesthetic fibre and graphic approach, Ewan joined the very closed circle of official Navy Painters in September 2021.”

“Christophe Agnus is now an award-wining author of maritime works and thrillers. The son of a naval officer who disappeared with his submarine, his life has been marked by the sea and his thirst to telle the world.”

special edition

For the special edition of Carènes Acte II, we have designed a box containing the numbered book and an art print. The latter was produced in our exceptional finishing workshop in our print shop in the south of France. The details of the exterior of the box were embossed in offset plates, which were used to print the book, as if a piece of the Queen Mary II’s hull had been detached to compose it.
